Abigail Jackson was born in Fort Worth, Texas. She always had an interest in art, but didn't pursue it actively during her early years. While studying at Texas A&M, she faced a profound loss with the passing of her brother. Seeking solace and a means of expression, she turned to art, enrolling in several traditional media art classes. Although this period laid the foundation for her love of painting, it wasn’t until five years later that she truly began creating.
In January 2023, a pivotal moment occurred while she was working at a corporate job. A copy of Fort Worth Magazine landed on her desk, featuring a captivating cover image of a woman boldly seated on a horse, draped in a striking red dress. This image stirred something deep within her, compelling her to recreate it on canvas. Thus began her infatuation with painting the essence of the West.
Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, travels, and Mexican heritage, her art reflects a profound appreciation for the interplay of cultures. Having resided in Spain for two years, Jackson is particularly intrigued by the legacy of Spanish colonialism, both positive and negative, and its impact on Mexican culture and the modern Western identity.
Through her paintings, she strives to capture the vibrant spirit of these cultures and illuminate the common threads that bind us together. Each brushstroke is a celebration of diversity, inviting viewers to explore the intricate tapestry of our shared heritage.
